Tortall Map Scroll

...I've been so inactive recently. It hasn't been that I haven't made stuff, I just, well, never get round to uploading anything. I've never attempted free-hand sewing quite like this before, so it was quite an experiment, trying different things out. This map is the map of Tortall from Tamora Pierce's Tortall-based books (this map was one from the UK edition of one of the Protector of the Small novels.) It's completely hand-sewn and was lots of fun to make. It does roll up into a scroll with a loop  and button, but you can't see that really in this picture. 

Time: ...I don't actually know, but no where near as much as I thought it would take. I  sew faster than I thought. 
Materials: Thick woven cotton (brown), thin woven cotton (actually a pillowcase), various threads, glass beads, buttons. 
Stitches used: Back stitch, blanket stitch, double herringbone stitch, running stitch, long stitch.
